The Clean-up Crew
The Clean-up Crew is headed by Phoenix. As the only rooster, he plays many roles, ranging from referee to protector.
Chickens provide many benefits to their owners. They are constantly hunting miscellaneous bugs and small rodents for food, thus greatly depreciating the quantity of pests around the property, and the pigeons.
Chickens, like many animals, have a natural sense of when they are in danger. When the chickens believe they are in danger, they have very distinct behavior that varies by the personality of the chicken. The hens usually stay under objects all day; while the rooster stands in the middle of the yard and calls to the hens indicating they are in danger. By studying the behavior of the chickens for a small amount of time, the fanciers are able to tell when a hawk or other predator is around, thus allowing them to make an educated decision about whether or not to train the pigeons that day.
