Meet the Fanciers
Mike and Julie Dupree have been racing pigeons together since the mid-90's. Mike got involved with pigeons when he was very young. His grandfather always enjoyed training and handling pigeons, though he never did race them. Mike was around pigeons all of his life. He began his racing adventures in the 90's and has not looked back since. He has a sheer love of racing and pigeons that drives him to succeed in his endeavors. Prior to Hurricane Katrina in 2005, Mike was a part of the Dixie-Southern Racing Club within the Greater New Orleans Combine. It was not until after Katrina that Mike joined the Slidell Racing Pigeon Club where he currently races. He holds the office of Treasurer within the SRPC.
Julie Dupree has been the loft manager of Duper Family Loft since the loft's creation. With Mike away at work 12 hours a day, she handles the day-to-day duties for the pigeons and loft care. Her passion for animals began when she was little. She grew up in a farm environment and was around animals all the time. It comes natural to Juile to love and care for any and all animals, so these pigeons are very well cared for. Her favorite part of pigeon racing is race day - the excitement and also peaceful calm is what drives her. Julie is part of the Slidell Hennies, which is a club that supports the SRPC in fundraisers, hospitality, charitible events, etc. She holds the office of Treasurer for the Hennies.
